Dr. Douglas M. Cox
Dr. Douglas M. Cox established the Cox Chiropractic Clinic in March of 1982 and opened his present location in July of 1993. The Cox Building was named in honor of his father, Donald J. Cox.
Dr. Cox’s family consists of his wife Jayne and their two daughters, Amber and Logan. He was active in the local Jaycees for over ten years and has been a member of the Charlottesville Rotary since 1982. He is also active in Habitat for Humanity.
On a professional level, he has held numerous positions for the Virginia Chiropractic Association, including the position as President, which began in August, 1999.
His hobbies include running, golf, spending time enjoying the outdoors, and sports activities with his daughters.
Dr. Wayne S. Fusco
Dr. Wayne Fusco joined the Cox Clinic in 2003. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford Ohio, where he graduated with magna cum laude honors. He then attended Logan College of Chiropractic, where he graduated with summa cum laude honors, earning a second bachelors degree in Biology and a doctorial degree of Chiropractic. Dr. Fusco met his wife Katie while at Miami University. They celebrated the birth of their first child Kai in February 2007.
Dr. Fusco enjoys spending time on patient and public health education. He teaches a weekly class at The Cox Clinic about the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of spinal problems. He has lectured about ergonomics, nutrition, workplace injury prevention and back safety for several companies and organizations in Charlottesville, including State Farm, Northrup Gruman Sperry Marine, and LexisNexis. Dr. Fusco has also written several articles on topics such as spinal arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoporosis, headaches, fibromyalgia, and nutritional supplementation.
In his free time, Dr. Fusco enjoys running, biking, hiking, and spending time with his wife and son.
Susette, Chiropractic Assistant/Office Manager
Susette has been with the Cox Clinic since 1985. In that time she has become an indispensable member of the clinic as well as becoming very active in the chiropractic community.
She has attended countless professional seminars to improve her skills and has received certificates from Parker Research Foundation, National College of Chiropractic and New York Chiropractic College. In 1995 she was awarded chiropractic assistant of the year.
She currently serves as President of the VCA Auxiliary, which provides continued education seminars for C.A.’s and supports the VCA with its projects.
In our office Susette handles all claims submitted to insurance companies. Any insurance questions regarding coverage, re-imbursement, chiropractic benefits or co-pays should be directed to her. Susette is also in charge of setting up financial arrangements or payment plans if necessary.
In Susette’s free time she enjoys riding horses and spending time with her family. She is happily married to her husband Cliff and they have two daughters - Alexis and Gabrielle.
Bonnie
Bonnie joined The Cox Clinic of Chiropractic in March of 2002, but is no stranger to chiropractic care. Prior to joining our clinic, Bonnie worked as a chiropractic assistant for Dr. Kenneth Haas, D.C., C.C.S.P. at Seminole Total Health for the ten years.
She has attended numerous seminars held by the New York Chiropractic College and the Virginia Chiropractic Association. She performs many tasks in our office, including front desk reception, vitamin inventory, patient chart coordination, and is our new patient advocate.
Bonnie lives with her husband Eric, and her two-year old son, Ryan. She enjoys spending time with her family, renovating their 1946 home, camping, crafts and painting.
Milissa
Milissa joined The Cox Clinic staff in May of 2002 after enjoying eight years of working in retail. She spends most of her time as our front desk receptionist, coordinating patient appointments and performing data entry.
She is happily married to her husband, Kenny, who co-owns Advanced Plumbing Services in Charlottesville. The have a daughter, Hannah, and a son, Cameron.
In Milissa’s free time she enjoys doing crafts and spending time with her family.
Laura
Laura joined The Cox Clinic in March of 2000. Prior to joining our office, Laura worked for 12 years as a physical therapy aid in upstate New York. She leads the staff in the application of physical therapies and is trained as an x-ray technician. Laura received her degree as a medical assistant and has worked for an orthopedic surgeon as well.
Laura is happily married and enjoying her new passion of gardening. She and her husband have two border collies and enjoy camping and hiking throughout the area.
