Meet the Doctors

  • Dr. Wayne
    Dr. Wayne Fusco

    Dr. Wayne Fusco joined The Cox Clinic in 2003 and became clinic director in 2014. He earned his bachelor's degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where he graduated with magna cum laude honors. He then attended Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was the Salutatorian, graduating with summa cum laude honors, and earning a second bachelor's degree in Biology and a doctorial degree in Chiropractic.

    Dr. Fusco has lectured about ergonomics, nutrition, workplace injury prevention, and back safety for several companies, schools, and organizations, such as The University of Virginia, Piedmont Community College, LexisNexis, State Farm, Northrup Grumman Sperry Marine, and The Charlottesville City Schools. He has authored several articles on health topics such as headaches, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, and nutritional
    supplementation.

    When Dr. Fusco is not with patients, he enjoys coaching the Western Albemarle High School Mountain Bike team and spending time with his wife Katie, and two boys, Kai and Quinn.

    Dr. Kayla Swingle

    Dr. Kayla Swingle is a graduate of Parker University in Dallas, Texas, graduating with both a master’s degree in Functional Nutrition and a Doctorate Degree in Chiropractic. Prior to Parker, she received her bachelor's degree from Bridgewater College, majoring in Nutrition and Exercise Science, and minoring in Equine Studies. She grew up just over the mountain in Augusta County, where she met her husband Nick, whom she married exactly one day before she left Virginia to start chiropractic school in Texas.

    In addition to the traditional chiropractic techniques employed at the Cox Clinic, Dr. Swingle specializes in Functional Neurology, Nutrition, and is trained in Applied Kinesiology. She also adds expertise with a cranial technique that helps with many headaches and is trained in the use of Class IV laser therapy. Lastly, she is certified in the use of chiropractic for animals.

    Speaking of animals, Dr. Swingle has been riding horses for most of her life and has competed in dozens of Eventing competitions. When she is not riding horses, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two rescue dogs. She is a voracious reader and enjoys spending time with her family and friends and staying actively involved in the local horse community

  • Dr. Davenport
    Dr. Ashley Davenport

    Dr. Ashley Davenport graduated with Manga Cum Laude honors from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida. During her tenure at Palmer College, Dr. Davenport received the Academic Achievement Award and served as clinic teaching assistant, providing leadership and guidance to peers in the program.

    Prior to Palmer, Dr. Davenport received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She was an executive board member for a National Panhellenic organization that focused on raising funds for charities like March of Dimes and the Ronald McDonald house.

    In addition to traditional chiropractic care, Dr. Davenport is Webster Technique certified, a prenatal specialty developed specifically for pregnant women to ensure a pain-free pregnancy and allow for an easier birth. She is trained in the use of Class IV therapeutic laser and utilizes several soft tissue techniques to aid in the healing of muscular complaints with the goal of providing specific, research-based, individualized care.

    Dr. Davenport was born in Charlottesville and was raised in Louisa County. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, and spending time with family and friends, as well as her yellow Labrador retriever, Samson, who is by her side with every adventure.
